Pruning the Grapevines

Posted on March 9, 2020June 29, 2021 By Jonathan Edgerton

It feels like we’ve got a nice start on pruning the grapevines – thanks to early snowmelt and a couple of nice days. While Stacy extricated one of our Reliance red seedless grapevines from a lilac at the corner of the house, I got the vines on top of the pergola cut back. A big part of the work this year will consist of installing new stakes and wires for training the other grapes. That will have to wait until the ground thaws – which may happen soon if the weather remains as warm as it has been.
